Why Hijaz
A new color on a familiar fretboard
The Hijaz scale is the sound of Arabic, Andalusian, and Mediterranean music, the unmistakable Middle Eastern color you've heard a thousand times without knowing its name. It's also what most Western guitarists call Phrygian dominant, the same scale that powers flamenco, classic metal, and any moment a guitarist wants a phrase that lands like a story.
Most players hear it constantly without ever learning to play it. This course is the structured introduction, an entire vocabulary in three keys so the scale stops feeling foreign and starts feeling like yours.
What students say
From the studio
As someone who's been in school most of their life, I can confidently say that Rami Atassi is one of the top teachers I've ever had.
He's patient, entertaining, and ultra knowledgeable. I can't believe how much I learned in such a short amount of time. Hell, I even have my own band now!
You will WANT to work on his lessons at home, that's how much he makes you want to be a better guitarist!
Rami is a fantastic teacher and an amazing musician. I would highly recommend Rami for learning guitar and becoming a more competent musician.
Rami is a very talented musician who is great at explaining difficult to understand concepts. He has a play-first approach so lessons and practice don't feel like homework. They are fun. And I've seen some serious progress in the last few months. Highly recommend!

Rami Atassi
Rami Atassi is a musician and teacher based in Chicago. He founded Guitar Tactics in 2021, running group improvisation classes out of his studio.
Through his studio practice, Rami produced over 300 instructional exercises. This is the foundation of his Guitar Tactics curriculum.
Beyond the teaching studio, Rami is an active composer and bandleader. Some highlights include: Dancing Together (2023) released on Ropeadope Records. Best Original Music, 2022 Fine Arts Film Festival. Played guitar on Skylanding (2016), produced by Yoko Ono.
“For Rami Atassi, sonic inspiration extends far beyond the city's borders. He has amassed an eclectic range of influences — desert guitar, jazz, Tropicália, samba, Arabic folk music, and Afrobeat — that populate his music.”
